Head Designer 4

MissionHires is seeking a Head Designer to lead design across a fast-growing companion care and in-home support platform in the healthcare space. You will own and elevate the end-to-end brand and product experience—spanning member, caregiver (companion), health plan, and employer touchpoints—to advance a mission of human connection, dignity, and better health outcomes. This role blends product design leadership, service design, and brand stewardship in a regulated, safety-first environment.

• Own the end-to-end design vision and strategy across product, brand, marketing, and service design to drive a cohesive, human-centered experience
• Lead, mentor, and grow a multidisciplinary design team (product, visual/brand, UX research, content, and service design)
• Define and measure design quality standards, accessibility, and usability across web and mobile member, caregiver, and partner experiences
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Clinical/Operations, and Compliance to translate business goals and regulatory needs into simple, empathetic solutions
• Establish and maintain a robust design system and component library that scales safely and consistently across platforms
• Champion inclusive, accessible design that supports older adults and diverse populations; embed research and co-creation practices with users
• Use data, experimentation, and qualitative insights to prioritize roadmaps, improve conversion, engagement, safety, and health outcomes
• Steward the brand identity and narrative across campaigns, lifecycle communications, and employer/health plan materials
• Map and optimize service journeys (onboarding, scheduling, transportation, in-home support, follow-up) to reduce friction and loneliness
• Advocate for reliability and safety in design decisions, including trust signals, incident reporting flows, and clear guidance for companions
• Present vision, strategy, and results to executive stakeholders; influence cross-functional alignment and investment in design
• Oversee vendor and agency partnerships; manage budgets, resourcing, and design operations for efficient, high-quality delivery

• 10+ years of professional design experience with 4+ years leading design teams in product-centric organizations
• Proven track record shipping consumer-facing mobile and web products, ideally in healthcare, caregiving, or other regulated service categories
• Expertise in human-centered design, inclusive design, and accessibility (WCAG) with a portfolio demonstrating measurable impact
• Experience building and scaling design systems in collaboration with engineering
• Fluency in service design and journey mapping across online and offline touchpoints
• Strong visual/brand design sensibility with the ability to evolve and steward an empathetic, trustworthy brand
• Comfort working with data and research—able to translate insights into prioritized roadmaps and experiments
• Exceptional leadership, coaching, and cross-functional influence; adept at communicating with executives and frontline teams
• Operational rigor: roadmap planning, capacity management, vendor oversight, and design QA processes
• Tool proficiency: Figma (or equivalent), prototyping tools, analytics/experimentation basics; understanding of design tokens and component-driven development
• Deep alignment with values of human connection, compassion, dignity, reliability, safety, and equity in outcomes
• Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, or related field (or equivalent experience); advanced degree a plus
